The Gombe State Government has pledged that no culprit of child abuse will escape the wrath of the law if found wanting.
The state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Asma’u Muhammad Iganus, stated this following the signing of the Child Rights Act into law by the governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.
Asma’u Iganus assured that she would not relent in her effort to task all stakeholders in the state to join the fight against child abuse.
In an interview with Daily Trust in Gombe after the inauguration of the 38-man committee on child protection, Iganus said no child abuser would go free without facing the full wrath of the law.
She warned farmers to desist from taking girls to their farms to work, describing it as child labour that must stop.
She urged traditional and religious leaders to support the effort against child abuse, saying they have a stake, more especially in their respective communities.
