‘Bring Their Killers To Justice’, Adeyanju Speak On Murder Of 16 Soldiers In Delta

Human rights activist and Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the killing of the 16 soldiers killed while on a peace mission in Delta state.
Adeyanju also called on the security agents in the country to find the killers and hastily bring to book.
The lawyer also commiserated with the Nigerian army and the families of the deceased soldiers who died while serving their country.
Nigerian Army, Saturday, disclosed the sad news that the 16 troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi local government area of Delta State were attacked by some youth following the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in the state.
Reacting to the incident in a statement, Adeyanju said he was in “shock” and “disbelief” with the report.
He wrote, “It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of soldiers killed in Delta State. The news of the tragic incident that claimed the lives of the Commanding Officer, two majors, one captain, and twelve soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Battalion has left me in shock, disbelief and mourning.
“These brave men and women who protect us daily were on a noble peace mission, selflessly dedicating themselves to the service of our country and striving to bring stability and harmony to our country and the Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.
“May the souls of our fallen heroes find eternal peace and rest. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will forever be etched in our hearts and minds. We will forever be grateful for their service and sacrifice.
“I call on the authorities to leave no stone untouched in ensuring those responsible for this dastardly act are brought to Justice.”
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters has ordered the arrest of the assailants according to a statement by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, who said the troops were attacked and killed by some community youths on Thursday, 14 March, 2024
Gusau said the troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi local government area of Delta State responded to a distress call after the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State.
“The unfortunate incident occurred when the troops responded to a distress call after the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities both in Delta State.
“So far, a few arrests have been made while steps are in place to unravel the motive behind the attack,” Gusau said.
