Bauchi Distributes Relief Materials To 2,085 IDPs

Bauchi State government has distributed food, non-food items and cash to over 2,085 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in five communities of Toro local government area.
The IDPs recently migrated to Bauchi State as a result of the civil unrest in Mangu, Bokkos and Baraki Ladi local government areas of Plateau State.
The items which include 100 bags of maize, 65 bags of rice and 25 gallons of vegetable oil, 5 cartoons of maggi, 5 bags of salt, 135 mats, 135 blankets, several utensils and N1 million cash were shared among the IDPs in Tilden Fulani, Gwaljarandi, Magama Kara, Gajaule and Takanda IDP settlements all in the local government area of Bauchi.
At the event, the state commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, Hon Hajara Yakubu Wanka informed the IDPs that the state governor, Bala Mohammed sent her and the team from the ministry to sympathise with them and also assess their situations with a view to seeing how the government can further provide some basic infrastructure to make their camps more habitable.
Wanka appreciated the management of Toro Local government area for being host to the IDPs and also implored the IDPs to live peacefully with their host communities.
On his part, deputy caretaker committee chairman of Toro council, Idris Abdullahi thanked the humanitarian team for reaching out to the IDPs in the local government area.
Abdullahi assured the commissioner of fair and equitable sharing of the items to all the deserving beneficiaries.
