Association Urges Improved Regulations, Funding For Health Sector

Dr Kamaldeen Jimoh, the President.  Association of Radiologists in Nigeria (ARIN), has urged improved regulation and funding for the health sector.

Jimoh spoke in Abuja on Friday, at the association’s ongoing 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Scientific Conference.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event also features the 58th AGM of the Association of Radiologists in West Africa (ARAWA).

According to him, improved funding of the sector will improve healthcare delivery system in Nigeria, thereby bringing it to international standard.

Speaking on the association’s achievements so far, he noted that ARIN had made tremendous progress in the actualisation of its objectives and purpose.

According to Jimoh, this it has done by maintaining focus and vision.

The Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the conference, Dr Wellington Ohikhokhai, noted that the theme for the conference, “COVID-19- the Radiology Perspective’, was apt given the current happenings globally.

He stated that the COVID-19 pandemic had created a lot of devastating effects on Nigerians.

“The impact on our lives, our lifestyle and our livelihood are a shared reality for every single individual in this country and the world at large.

“The pandemic has had and is still having far-reaching consequences on our already complicated realities.

“The challenging issues of this pandemic are heightened not just by the impact of the disease but also by the mitigating measures, such as lockdowns, school and business closure and travel bans,” he said.
