The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) yesterday said the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project, which is at 80 per cent completion, would be delivered by December 2024.
The NNPCL chief executive officer, Mele Kyari, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the segment two of the project – the completed Hadejia River HDD by a contractor, BRENTEXCCP Limited.
Kyari, represented by the executive vice president, Gas Power and New Energy, NNPC, Olalekan Ogunleye, commended the team over their sterling safety performance of 7.2 million man hours without loss of time and injury.
He said, “Continue to prioritise safety, and more importantly, demonstrate the new mantra of the NNPC, which is effective delivery. We must step up on our team work for collaboration and to ensure that we deliver on this economic enhancement project for the people of Nigeria.
“This project is aligned and will be delivered by the end of next year, before December 31, 2024 when the president and the Group CEO of the NNPC would be commissioning the project. This is the commitment to the people of Nigeria.”
On his part, the contractor for the segment two, the executive vice chairman, BRENTEXCCP Limited, Sani Abubakar, assured that all resources were in place and on schedule to meet the deadline.
The NNPCL said the AKK gas pipeline and stations project was a flagship project that would further deepen the integration of the northern region of the country with the Niger Delta and other parts of the country.
