Adamawa Assembly Raises Judicial Officers’ Retirement Age

Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking to increase the years of service of judicial officers before retirement. The bill stipulates that judicial officers will bow out of service at the age of 65 as against 60 years.
The passage of the bill followed a motion sponsored by the majority leader, Hon Kate Raymond Mamuno (PDP-Demsa) and seconded by the minority leader, Hon Umar Suleiman Alkali (APC-Yola North).
If assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the benefiting officers will retire from service after putting in 40 years as against 35 years or bow out of service at the age of 65 as against 60 years.
After the passage of the bill, the speaker, Hon Bathiya Wesley, directed the clerk to prepare a clean copy of the bill for Governor Fintiri’s assent.
