Natives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have commended the minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike for promptly constituting his cabinet through the inauguration of the mandate secretaries.
An elder statesman and one of the major stakeholders in the FCT, Elder Danjuma Tanko Dara, made this commendation on behalf of Abuja natives at a press briefing yesterday in Abuja.
Dara said the inauguration of the new mandate secretaries by Wike, less than a month in office, had proven his readiness to provide good governance to the people of FCT.
The elder statesman also congratulated the new mandate secretaries, advising them to work in the interests of the natives and residents of Abuja, to effectively deliver the mandate of renewed hope to the people of Abuja.
“We want to commend the minister, Nyesom Wike for swiftly moving into action to inaugurate his cabinet through the appointment and inauguration of the mandate secretaries. This has proven that he is ready to work and ensure that things are done properly in the FCT.
“My advice for the new mandate secretaries is that they should not disappoint President Bola Tinubu and the FCT minister who found them worthy to serve as mandate secretaries, which is equivalent to commissioners in other states.
“They should be selfless in serving the people and the government and ensure that the right things are done to justify their appointments. So, at the end of their tenure, they will be proud to say that they served the people very well to the best of their ability,” he said.
Dara also appealed to residents and natives of the FCT not to put the mandate secretary of Area Councils Service Secretariat, Bitrus Garki under pressure through unnecessary demands, but that they should support and pray for him to succeed in this enormous assignment given to him by President Tinubu.
“Bitrus Garki needs our prayers and support because he is a very young and intelligent man. So, instead of looking for ways to put him under pressure by making unnecessary demands, we should think of ways to make him succeed by giving him positive advice and praying for him.
“If he succeeds, that means the entire natives of Abuja have succeeded because he is the only indigene of Abuja amongst the mandate secretaries. We want to use this opportunity to appreciate the government for counting him worthy for such an exalted position despite his age,” he said.
