The Registrar National Board for Arabic And Islamic Studies (NBAIS) Professor Yahuza Suleiman Imam has Sympathized with the victims of the unfortunate and devastating flood that ravaged Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, following the collapse and overflow of the Alau Dam.

Expressing his sympathy, Prof. Sulaiman Imam noted that a number of families were rendered homeless as the flood wreaked havoc in the state capital.

He called on the government to put all necessary mechanisms in place to avoid a future occurrence of the unfortunate disaster

He also calls for the immediate tackling of the menace with a new roadmap as well as prioritising the welfare of the victims of flood in Bauchi Kaduna and other states affected.

The Registrar advised that one of the approaches to stop the reoccurrences of floods, not only in Maiduguri, but in the country is to invest in infrastructure that can withstand disasters, such as flood barriers, reinforced buildings, as well as adequate and good drainage systems.

According to him, such provisions would go a long way in saving lives and preventing catastrophic situations in the future.

Prof. Yahuza urges other relevant agencies to be up and doing in the disaster management approach by prioritising community education in handling disaster issues immediately
