The Sokoto State House of Assembly on Thursday adopted a motion for the electrification of three towns in Kware local government area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the motion was moved by Mahmud Abdullahi (PDP- Kware), for the electrification of three towns.

The motion, seconded by Buhari Haliru (PDP-Sokoto North I), was adopted for the connection of Mallamawar Yari, Tungar Kasara and Dunguji towns of Durbawa district in Kware LGA to the  National Grid.

Moving the motion,  Abdullahi said that apart from the three towns, communities including Gidan Basakare, Jebawa and Gidan Gari would also benefit from the gesture.

“The people of the said towns in Kware LGA have no electricity at this age and time when electricity is a backbone of development.

“However, considering the fact that the people of these towns are predominantly all season farmers, lack of electricity has negatively affected their socioeconomic activities, thereby, slowing down the progress and development of these communities.

“Hence there is the need for government to connect them to National Grid to boost their socioeconomic activities,” he said.

The legislators during the sitting presided by the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, in a voice vote unanimously accepted the motion.
