Reps Donates 7,800 Bags Of Rice To Constituents

Rep. Yusuf Gagdi (APC-Plateau)  has donated assorted food items to his constituents to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown and in the spirit of Ramadhan fast.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items distributed included 7,000 bags of 25kg of rice and 800 bags of 100kg each of milet and maize.
The lawmaker, who was a one time Deputy Speaker in the Plateau Hosue of Asembly, said the items would be shared among constituents in the three local government areas that make up his constituency.
Gagdi explained that a large part of the items would be donated to women, the vulnerable, the aged, persons with disability and the poor.
“As governments at all levels, individuals and groups are making efforts to alleviate the sufferings of people during the lockdown, I feelthat in my little way I should support my constituents as well.
“Government and other groups have done a lot in making available hand sanitisers and other items that will promote personal hygiene.
“I decided to give food items; rice, maize and milets, so that hunger will not finish our people because of the stay at home directive
“I don’t have the capacity to provide for everybody, but the little we are able to provide will be shared with emphasise given to the poor, persons with disabilities and the vulnerable, among others,” he said.
The lawmaker noted that the items would be shared to all irrespective of party, ethnic and religious affiliations, insisting that he is a representative of all the people.
“These items are not just for my party members. I am now representative of all, so, people irrespective of party should benefit from the gesture,” he said.
Gagdi assured that the items would get to the desired population as he has high confidence on those entrusted with responsibility of distribution.
