Mrs Adebeshin Awobode, a resident in Jakande Estate, Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos, on Tuesday distributed food items as palliatives to 100 households in the estate.
Awobode told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the gesture was to show love to neighbours as the palliatives were to cushion the harsh effects of COVID-19 lockdown on residents of the estate.
Awobode said she involved the EYP because they knew most of the residents and their mode of distribution was to give tags to beneficiaries before the day of collection.
She said the distribution was orderly with the use of the tags, adding that she was inspired to do more.
Awobode said: “people will appreciate anything you give them during this lockdown period” and urged other individuals in the estate, that are capable, to reach out to the residents even beyond the lockdown period.
Mr Adeyemi Yusuf, the Chairman of EYP, said that the palliatives were the sincere and modest contributions of Awobode to the residents.
He said that the EYP adopted proactive measures to ensure that the palliatives reached the targeted residents.
Yusuf said all the beneficiaries were residents in the estate and distribution cut across all parts of the estate.
