NDE Trains 200 Widows, Girls On Skills Acquisition In Bauchi

National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is currently training 200 widows and girl-child in Bauchi state on skills acquisition for self-reliance on soap and lubricant making, as well as other cosmetology products and special Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS).

Speaking during the training opening ceremony in Bauchi Tuesday, the Director-General of the Directorate, Dr Nasir Ladan Argungu noted that the skills when acquired by the trainees would make them self-reliance, and even employers of labour

Represented by the Bauchi state coordinator of the directorate, Aliyu Lawan Yaya, the Director-General revealed that there would be an addition of 100 youths to benefit from a special training programme of the directore, “100 youths will be trained on ICT; computer; carpentry; welding and tailoring.” He said.

Argungu explained that participants of the programme would be trained for a period of two weeks after which they will be economically empowered to start their businesses, and urged them to pay attention to their training to drive maximum benefits from it.

He stated, “In other places, one has to pay for the skills acquisition, but we here at the NDE freely train citizens with a view to making them productive members of the society”.

He informed that female trainees are to be trained in soap making; cream making; perfume making; jewelries and make up.

On the additional 100 youths for training by the directory, Argungu disclosed that they would spend at least three months under the programme after which each would be empowered with N5, 000 as transport fare.

He explained that the directorate has scouted some competent resource persons who would positively impact on the beneficiaries, and drew their attention to make the best of the opportunity afforded them.

One of the participants, Amina Haruna assured of driving the maximum benefits from the training programme to enable them acquired skills that could make them self-reliance and raise their means of livelihood.

She commended the role being placed by the directorate in shaping the destiny of youths and women folks in the society.
