The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted a Campus Radio Broadcasting licence to the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in Nasarawa State.
Ahmed disclosed that the approval was conveyed to the institution via a letter dated February 28, 2020 and signed by the Acting Director-General of NBC, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba.
He explained that the licence covers the period of five years starting from Feb. 27, 2020 to Feb. 2025, at the time which the licence conditions may be reviewed.
“Pursuant to the provisions of section 39 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and section 2 (I) (b), 9 and 20 of the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap. II, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2014.
“I hereby convey the approval of the National Broadcasting Commission of your application for the grant of a Campus Radio Broadcast Licence to your institution in Nasarawa Campus, Nasarawa State.
“The station shall not carry political adverts, campaigns, jingles, or cover any political activity outside the campus,’’ the statement reads.
Ahmed, who expressed appreciation to the NBC, promised to ensure that the station abide by the provisions of the NBC act.
The rector described the development as a turning point and one of the achievements of his administration in the Polytechnic.
