The Kwara Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, says the state command is still leading the enforcement of the total lockdown imposed on the state.
He said the report may have been due to the fact that the policemen may have been returning gradually to their duty posts after the four-hour window provided for residents to restock for the lockdown.
The commissioner said he was still on the streets as late as 1:00 a.m on Tuesday to ensure residents complied with the state government’s total lockdown directive and to ensure that policemen were at their duty posts.
The commissioner said that the police were working tirelessly to enforce the lockdown and assist in checking the spread of the coronavirus.
The lockdown directive, however, allowed banks, pharmacies and foodstuff outlets to open for business on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 a.m and 2 p.m.
