The House also confirmed Justice Siyaka Momoh-Jimoh Usman as the President of the state’s Customary Court of Appeal.

The lawmakers also confirmed Mr George Funsho Ojo as a Permanent Member of the Kogi State Electoral Commission.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two heads of court and the commission member had operated in acting capacities until the confirmation.

Also at Wednesday’s plenary session, the  legislators mandated the state judiciary to establish a magistrate’s court at Zaria  Kikhabar Junction in Adavi Local Government Area to serve three communities.

This followed a resolution of the House after    adopting a motion moved by Mr Ibrahim Usman (APC-Adavi) Constituency and seconded by Mr Dahiru Ahmed (APC-Okene II).

Speaker of the Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole,  while ruling  on the motion, said that establishment of a magistrate’s court in the area was necessary.

Kolawole said that the court  would  serve three major towns in the area and make  litigants not to travel long distances to Lokoja for court cases.
