Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that 2,419,922 registered voters are expected to cast their votes for the 17 governorship candidates in the November 11, 2023, election in Imo State.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by INEC’s national commissioner and chairman, Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun.
Olumekun highlighted that as part of the commission’s ongoing recruitment to further the use of technology for voter accreditation and result management, it intends to hold mock voter accreditation in the three states.
According to the statement, all political parties that fielded candidates will receive soft copies of the entire register in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa states where the governorship election will take place.
He said the mock accreditation would be used to test the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the upload of polling unit results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (iREV).
The national commissioner stressed that the exercise will be conducted concurrently in the three states on Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., adding that the list of designated polling units for each state has been uploaded to its website and social media platforms.
