The Kwara Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 2,000 operatives will be deployed across the state to ensure safety on the roads during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Jonathan Owoade, said this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Saturday.

Owoade said that 1,500 personnel of the FRSC and 500 Special Marshals had been mobilised for traffic control during the celebration.

He said that there had been public enlightenment to ensure that motorists and road users were aware of safety rules and regulations.

“We are deploying 1,500 personnel and 500 Special Marshals for traffic control for this Sallah celebration.

“We have also embarked on aggressive and robust public enlightenment at various parks, on radio, television and print media, which is apart from the Mega Rally that held on Thursday.

“Just as it was emphasised during the rally, we are looking to
‘Achieving Zero Road Fatality Through Public Enlightenment Campaign’.

“It is our practice to improve on advocacy during festive seasons in order to guide road users on the appropriate road conduct and enforce compliance to road traffic laws and regulations.

“This year’s Eid-el-Kabir operations will focus on ensuring prompt response to all Road Traffic Crash (RTC) emergencies, we will also ensure hitch free traffic flow during the festive period and maintain highly visible presence of corps on the highway to provide traffic support,” he said.

Owoade advised the motoring public to comply with COVID-19 guidelines, avoid overloading and over speeding, while ensuring that their vehicles are in good condition.

He wished the Muslim faithful and everyone a happy Sallah celebration.

NAN recalls that Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, flagged off the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir Special Patrol National Mega Rally on July 15.
