CEDDERT Set To Conduct Extensive Research On Almajiri System Of Education

The Center for Democratic Development Research and Training CEDDET Zangon Shanu Zaria, is currently conducting research in the Almajiri system of education; the aim is to find true meaning and understanding by way of research into the mystery surrounding the system of education. This was disclose by Professor Abdullkadir Adamu of National Archive of the Federal Capital Territory, who is one the senior researchers of the center, he said the research became necessary because people seems to be confusing the Almajiri system of education with begging, but the fact remain that the system of education is not all about begging, though some participated in begging and serve as menial workers in households, but essentially Almajiri system of education from the way it evolve is not a begging institute as it was the changes in the economic and the capitalist nature of government that leads to them begging because people are no longer their brothers keepers, and government at all level are longer supporting it.

In his contribution earlier, Prof. Muhammad Mustapah Gwadabe one of the Directors of CEDDERT explain that the center was established in the year 1992, and was established to offer research and documentation for benefit of humanity.

Saying that the center was established under the leadership of late M D Yusuf and late Dr. Bala Usman and some collaborators spread in different part of the country and world around the globe, the main aim is to make the populace to fully benefit from the present democratic dispensation. ‘’We have also undertaken several researches that help to restored and maintained the much needed peace and development in the country. We also undertook several researches in places like Kaduna and Zamfara states and have proffer solutions against the ongoing banditry”, he says.

Of recent we have also did a serious research in the issues of counter funding in the educational sectors of the Kaduna state, which can be use in all state of the federations, the contribution of Mach Arthur Foundations in this area is tremendous.

In his contribution, of the National Archive of the Federal Territory, explains that center has also contributed in development in the territory and has single handedly carried the training of the KASTELA personnels, the Kaduna state traffic regulatory agency. Armed Rural Banditry and Cattle Rustlers, we are able to identify that the conflicts was driven by several factors, which include army banditry and the need for cattle breeders  to access to grazing reserved which have been taken over by some other factor which make them to seek for alternative. We also conducted research to the economic consequences of the crisis. With the support of Mar Arch foundation we conduct research to ensure sustainability  and accountability for counterpart funding in UBEC and SUBUB, the research was conducted for 3 years, because of quality the project was extended in Kagarko Sabon Gari and Giwa local government. We discovered that several project were not executed even though they and have been slated for execution for that particular year”

He concluded that with CEDDET intervention; the general public became fully involved in monitoring of the project, which helps in checkmating loopholes an ensuring quality n the projects and they also able to mobilize several developmental project to these areas.
