The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI (JTF NW OPHD), Brig Gen IA Ajose, has declared open the 8 Division Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition 2024.
The competition, hosted by 1 Brigade NA, aims to enhance leadership skills, esprit-de-corps, and professional competence among officers, as well as prepare them for higher responsibilities. Events include map reading, combat swimming, weapon handling, and obstacle crossing.
Brig Gen Ajose emphasized the importance of training in military operations and urged participants to perform their best to benefit from the competition and make their formations proud.
The competition aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, which focuses on transforming the NA into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force.
The Host, Commander 1 Brigade and Sector 1 JTF NW OPHD, Brig Gen TM Opurum, outlined the requirements for the competition, including map reading, combat swimming, weapon handling, and obstacle crossing.
The opening ceremony featured a map reading exercise, marking the beginning of the competition.
