Youth Employment A Pinnacle For Poverty Eradication

Scholars at the launched of the book ‘The Face of Poverty in Nigeria’ published by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the Yusufu Bala Usman Institute Zaria has stressed the need for the empowerment of youths and women who are worse hit by poverty as it serve as catalyst for crime reduction in the country.

The main book reviewer, Dr Hauwa Madhi, Senior Lecturer, School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Explain that some aspects of Nigerian life have instead worsened.

“The research Project Supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the Yusufu Bala Usman Institute Zaria has unveiled the really of face poverty in Nigeria with the female gender being hit the most, other sector that suffers the harsh bite of poverty include the youths who constitutes the majority of the Nigerian population,” she said.

Madhi however, call for massive investment in education and making sure that the youths are gainfully employed.

Other scholars who review the book include Ovie Lankemfa, a trade unionist and journalist, and Dr. Hussaini Abdu, the country representatives of the CARE foundations. The book lunch was chaired by Prof. Mike Kwanaishe and was conducted through Zoom with attendance participants from all over the globe.
