Group Distributes Items, Awards Scholarship To Pupils

An Abuja based charitable group, Project Aileru, on Tuesday distributed books and other items to pupils of L.E.A Primary School, Utako, Abuja, as a way of showing love to the less privileged.

The group also gave secondary school scholarships to two pupils, Joseph Moses, an orphan and Hauwa Abdullahi, for her brilliance.

The duo would be going to Air Force Military School, Jos and Air Force Girls Comprehensive School, Jos,respectively.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the group, Mr. Musa Aileru, who made the donation and awarded the scholarship, appreciated the Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Kama Elem, for the opportunity to show love to the pupils.

Represented by Mr Tayo Lawal, the group’s Executive Secretary, Aileru said the  project  started in 2009 with the vision to give hope to the vulnerable in the society.

“We are here to celebrate with these children and put smiles on their face in this period of sharing and extending love.

“We will also want to see the  role the group can play in helping these children access good and quality education,” he said.

Two other pupils, Ibrahim Auwal and Rukayat Abubakar, also  got N5,000 cash rewards  each for being adjudged the neatest pupils in the school, with instructions to give the money to their parents.

Responding, the Head Teacher, Elem, commended the group for the donations and its plan to sustained the efforts particularly on its resolve to improve the education of the pupils.

She pleaded with the group to assist in the payment of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) levy which she said was N1, 200 per pupil.

The pupils all thanked the group for the gesture and promised to give more attention to their studies in order to fulfill their dreams.
