The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State, said on Monday that four persons lost their lives in a road crash involving a commercial vehicle and a commercial motorcyclist in Bauchi.

Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, the FRSC Sector Commander, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi , said seven others were seriously injured in the crash.

According to Abdullahi, the accident which involved one commercial Golf 3 car with number plate KTG268YG and a commercial Bajaj motorcycle (Okada), happened around 6:30 p.m in Duhuwar Kura village on Azare-Zaki road in Bauchi on Sunday.

The Sector Commander said that it took his personnel about seven minutes to arrive at the scene to clear the site, attributing the accident to speed violation and `overloading’.

“Eleven people were involved in the fatal road crash which included nine males, one female and a female child.

“Four people who were on the motorcycle ran into the Golf 3 car and lost their lives instantly in the process and they were all males.

“Seven others sustained various degrees of injuries and they were five males, one female and a female child,” said Abdullahi.

The FRSC boss, who gave the name of the driver of the car as Abubakar Haruna said the injured persons were taken to Federal Medical Centre, Azare, for medical treatments.

He disclosed that the remains of the deceased were also deposited in the morgue of the same hospital for identification.

He, however, advised motorists to always be conscious of traffic rules and regulations while plying the roads.
