2 Men In Court For Allegedly Causing Public Nuisance

The Police on Tuesday arraigned two men – Jibo Musa, 35 and Nura Garba, 33 – at a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly causing public nuisance within Karu and evirons.

The defendants, of different addresses, were arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on public nuisance and being in possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hem.
The two, however, denied committing the offence.
The Prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that they were arrested on Jan. 7 by a team of policemen led by one ASP Bala Yunusa, attached to Karu Police Station.
According to him, following intelligence reports on criminal activities within the area, the team raided a black-spot behind Abuja Clinic, Karu, about 9 p.m.
He said the spot was used by criminals as hideout to perpetrate their evil acts.
Adeyanju said when the defendants were arrested, some dry leaves suspected to be “Indian Hem” were found with them during police investigation.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 198 and 319 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Anas Isah, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with one surety each in like sum, and adjourned the case until March 22 for hearing. (NAN)
