Zamfara Govt. Awards N2.8billion Contract On Education

Zamfara State Govt. has awarded a contract to the sum of N2,791,569,918.25 for various projects of the State Universal Basic Education Board, from 2023 UBEC/SUBEB Matching Grant intervention covering the 1st to 4th Quarters 2023.

The Chairman of Zamfara State Universal Education Board, Dr Nasiru Anka disclosed this at an event to present a certificate of a contract to the beneficiaries which was held in Gusau on Tuesday.

Anka said the projects were awarded to local contractors across the 14 local government areas of the state.

The projects to be executed include;

one new Safe school, 14 blocks of VIP toilets, 6 playrooms for Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), 4 blocks of 2 classrooms, offices, and stores, 13 blocks of 3 classrooms, offices, and stores, and 8 perimeter wall fences.

Other renovation works include; 13 blocks of 3 classrooms, offices, and stores with existing verandas. Also at another school

14 blocks of 2 classrooms, offices with existing verandas, 11 blocks of 2 classrooms, office with introduction of new verandas,

1 perimeter wall fence, 3 four-pit VIP toilets as well as the renovation of 1 block of 4-classroom, office, and store.

Provision of 4,612 two-seater pupil furniture, 242 teacher tables, 362 teacher chairs, 6 sets of ECCDE furniture and 6 sets of office furniture.

“With these projects and investments, I am confident that we will continue to improve the quality of education and facilities in the State. Your continued support and dedication are invaluable to us as we work towards these goals.” Anka maintains.

He added that the SUBEB looking ahead to 2024, the allocation of the sum of N3, 554,642,584.46 Matching Grant for the 1st- 4th Quarter year from UBEC, which will be matched equally by the State Government, to bring the total Matching Grant for the year 2024 to N7, 109,285,168.92.

In his remarks on behalf of the contractors Mallam Tanimun Mada appreciated recognition for awarding them a contract and promised to do good as all the contractors were equal beneficiaries of the projects.
