Works Minister Orders Immediate Assessment of Flood-Damaged Kano-Maiduguri Road

The Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi, has directed an immediate assessment of the flood-damaged section of the Kano-Maiduguri federal road in Bauchi State. The road was cut off by flood after a heavy downpour, causing inconvenience to road users.

The Minister also announced the termination of Section 1 of the Kano-Maiduguri road project awarded to Dantata & Sawoe Ltd due to effluxion of time. He emphasized the need for contractors to take responsibility for their work and ensure durability and value for money.

During a meeting with Dangote Group, BUA Group, and Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd, the Minister called for concerted efforts to complete projects under the Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme. He highlighted progress made so far and emphasized the need for milestone completion and timetables for ongoing projects.

The Minister commended Dangote Plc and BUA for their good work on ongoing projects but charged Mainstream to step up efforts on their projects. He called for patience, partnership, and patriotism from all stakeholders, emphasizing the President’s commitment to the road sector.
