The Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Jigawa have urged residents to continue to comply with the directive of the state Zgovernment by staying at home as they celebrate Easter.
They urged the residents, particularly Christians, to celebrate the Easter indoor, pointing out that staying at home was imperative to as part precautionary measure to contain spread of coronavirus in the state.
They advised residents to use the Easter period to pray fervently against the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state and its spread in the country.
They also urged residents to comply with experts and government’s advice on social distancing, as well as personal and environmental hygiene.
NAN recalls that the state government had on March 26, closed its boundaries to prevent the spread of the virus from neighboring states into Jigawa.
Also, government had reached an arrangement at a meeting with religious leaders that both Muslim and Christian leaders would intensify prayers against the spread of the disease.
It was also agreed that Chief Imams of congressional (Friday) prayers and Pastors would shorten the time of payers in order to avoid congestion and keeping people staying together for long.
The government further urged the people to maintain personal hygiene, practice regular hand washing with soap, as well as ensure application of sanitisers in order to avoid contracting the disease.
