The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has demanded a thorough investigation into alleged fraudulent activities in the disbursement of Kaura Cares, a program funded by the World Bank and aimed at supporting the poor and vulnerable.

In a press statement signed by the party secretary Abubakar Bawa Kalgo and issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the PDP expressed dismay at the government’s failure to take action against identified fraudsters or disclose their identities to the public. The party emphasized the need for an internal investigation, as only officials involved in the disbursement have access to the accounts and bank details of the 65,000 registered beneficiaries.

The PDP questioned the Commissioner of Information’s statement on the matter and suspected a possible cover-up of top administration officials involved in the fraud. The party expressed disappointment that a program meant to support the poor and vulnerable had been exploited by those entrusted with its management.

The PDP called on the World Bank, Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning, National Social Safety Administration, EFCC, and ICPC to conduct a thorough evaluation of the Kebbi State component of NG Cares to uncover any fraudulent activities and mismanagement of funds.
