Nationwide Protest: Kebbi Head of Civil Service Urges Youths, Workers To Shun Protest Violence

In a fervent call to maintain peace and order, the Kebbi State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Sifiyanu Garba Bena has urged Nigerian youths and workers to refrain from engaging in acts of protest thuggery as nationwide demonstrations loom.

The upcoming protests, organized by various youth groups across the country, have sparked concerns over potential violence and property damage. Addressing the media earlier today in his office in Birnin Kebbi this Thursday.

The State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Sifiyanu Garba Bena, emphasized that while peaceful protest is a constitutional right, it should not be marred by vandalism or incitement of communal strife.

While also Acknowledging the fundamental right of citizens to express their grievances through peaceful demonstrations, he further underscored the importance of upholding law and order.

“We recognize and respect the right of our youths to voice their concerns through peaceful protest,” he stated. “However, we strongly condemn any form of violence, destruction of public or private property, and any actions that could escalate into communal conflict.”

The call comes amidst rising tensions following recent protests that escalated into violence, resulting in significant damage to government infrastructure and private businesses. He however, said Concerns have been mounting over the potential impact of further unrest on the stability and unity of communities across Nigeria.

Alhaji Sifiyanu Garba Bena urged all stakeholders, particularly the organizers and participants of the planned protests, to prioritize peaceful means of expression and avoid actions that could undermine the nation’s security and social cohesion.

He assured the public that law enforcement agencies are prepared to uphold public safety while respecting citizens’ rights. “We are working closely with security agencies to ensure that adequate measures are in place to protect lives and property during the demonstrations,” he affirmed.

Equally, he called upon community leaders, parents, and guardians to counsel youths against being manipulated into perpetrating acts of violence under the guise of protest.

As the nation braces for potential demonstrations, stakeholders are closely monitoring developments and engaging in dialogue aimed at fostering peaceful resolutions to the issues at hand.

The Head of Civil Service reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing legitimate grievances through constructive dialogue and urged all parties to contribute positively to the nation’s progress and unity.
