Kebbi Youths Holds National Protest In Birnin Kebbi, Yauri, Others LGAS

A Group of youths in Birnin Kebbi, Yauri and other LGAS of the the state have joined their counterpart of other States of the federation to holds the national protest where they marched through the streets peacefully to register their grievances over the economic hardship being witnessed in the country.

The protest was peaceful in the state capital as the youth went through the streets with Placards in their hands. But unverified report said it went bloody in Yauri area of the state as a yet to be identified man was shot dead by unknown gunman in the crowd of the protesters. The man, it was gathered was shot as he rushed to lock his shop from being looted.

Beside the death that was allegedly recorded in Yauri, local government secretariat offices vandalized and many shops were also reportedly looted by the youths as they marched through the streets.

Earlier, handful youths carrying placard marched through the streets from the Gwadangwaji area of Birnin Kebbi. The youth leader, Shamaki Gwadangaji Aliyu told journalists that they came out to protest against the high cost of food items occasioned by the economic policies of the federal government.

He said “We came out peaceful to register our grievances against government economic policies that is causing hunger and hardships in the country.

“As you can see, only a few of us came out but the important thing is that we came out to show to the world that Kebbi youths share in the feeling of other Nigerians about the economic hardship in the land”, he said.
