The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a significant success in its fight against banditry, with the killing of one suspected bandit, arrest of two others, and recovery of three AK-47 rifles with ammunition in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the police achieved this feat through a combined effort with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

On June 21, 2024, bandits invaded Kurgeye village, kidnapping Malami Danladi and his son, Bello. However, a swift response by the police and vigilante group resulted in a gun battle, leading to the death of one bandit and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle.

In another operation on September 3, 2024, police intercepted and arrested two suspected bandits, Isiya Alhaji Usman and Yunusa Yusuf, along Ribah-Kanya road. One K2 rifle, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, and 66 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the gallantry performances of the police personnel and urged them to sustain and improve their efforts. He also charged the police and other security agencies to intensify synergy and decisively deal with bandits and other unscrupulous elements to ensure socio-economic activities thrive in the state.

The arrested suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution.
