Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State – Governor Nasir Idris has reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the new national minimum wage of N70,000 for all workers in the state.

During a courtesy call by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) State Council leadership at the Government House, Governor Idris emphasized that his administration is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Kebbi State residents.

He clarified that the Federal Government, which approved the new wage, has yet to finalize implementation modalities. Governor Nasir assured that his administration will commence implementation as soon as the necessary template is received by labour leaders and present to him.

The Governor also addressed concerns about the annual development levy of N500 or N1000 explaining that it is a longstanding deduction allowed by law, amounting to only N11 million for all state workers.

He appealed to the NLC to disregard misinformation and emphasized his administration’s commitment to partnering with labour leaders to develop Kebbi State.

The NLC Chairman, Comrade Murtala Usman, praised Governor Nasir Idris for his labor-friendly stance and acknowledged the state’s infrastructural progress under his leadership.
