Kebbi State deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, has distanced himself from the Press Release by the opposition PDP for powers transmission to him by the Governor when he travels to the Hajj 2024.

The PDP had issued a statement in Birnin Kebbi urging the state Governor to transmit powers to the deputy Governor as he prepares to depart for the Pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for smooth continuation of governance.

The PDP based its argument on Section 190(1)(2) of the Constitution.

In a reaction, the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar- Tafida said in the affirmative, that at no time whatsoever, has the Executive Governor failed to transmit powers to his deputy even in the case of a day’s absence.

“We are amazed at the so-called pretentious claim of the opposition to the alleged non-existence of power vacuum in Kebbi State”,

“For the avoidance of doubt, Kebbi State is exceptional among all states in Nigeria where an excellent harmonious working relationship exists between the Governor and his Deputy”,

“We hope and pray that the most cordial working relationship that existed between them will continue to persist for the benefit of the good people of Kebbi State”, the deputy explained during a press briefing at his official resident in Birnin Kebbi this Thursday.
