The Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC), an NGO based in Abuja, on Saturday tasked Nigerian masses to work harmoniously among themselves for a peaceful nation.
Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, National Coordinator of the group, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja in commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
Nnam, who expressed displeasure with divisions among Nigerians, said such had affected national coexistence.
“The elites remain united no matter their difference as Kogi Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, earlier said some days back.
“Bello was correct when he said the elites are united than the masses because the masses always avail themselves for manipulation to cause mischief,” he said.
Nnam described the masses as the foundation of every nation and needed a united front to reshape the destiny of the country.
According to him, the masses are the ones who allow religion or ethnicity to divide them, not the elites.
Nnam urged the masses to emulate the elites in their cooperation for a stronger, prosperous and united Nigeria. (NAN)
