The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kebbi, has urged Governor Nasir Idris to ensure strict adherence to the constitutional provision of transmission of powers to his Deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar- Tafida.

The Public Relations Officer of the party in the state, Alhaji Garba Liman, made this known in a statement he signed and issued to pressmen in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

“The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the state learnt that Governor Nasir Idris is expected to be among the thousands of people from the state to perform this year’s pilgrimage (Hajj) in Saudi Arabia.

” While wishing him and his entourage, a hitch- free journey to the holly land; the party is urging the governor to follow due process of power transmission to the deputy governor as provided by section 190: subsection 1 and 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria before proceeding on Hajj leave,” it said.

This, the statement said, would enable the state to have smooth continuation of the executive authority to handle state affairs without any hitch.

“It is a constitutional matter, too glaring to be ignored; hoping that due diligence will be done accordingly,” it said.

The statement called on the pilgrims to pray for continued peace, harmony, and bumper harvest during this year’s farming season.
