Emir Of Yauri Calls For Construction Of A Bridge Across River Niger In Yauri

The Emir of Yauri, Dr. Mohammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, CON, has called on the Federal Government to construct a bridge across River Niger at Zamare, in Yauri Local Government of Kebbi State to Rofia in Niger State.
The call was part of the speech he delivered at the venue of the just concluded Rigata Cultural Festival in Yauri, the Emir said the new bridge if constructed will provide another route for the transportation of goods and passengers to the South and boost economic activities in the country.
The construction of the bride, according to the monarch, will reduce considerably the travelling time from Sokoto to Lagos and will opened up many farming communities in Kebbi, Niger and Kwara States.
On inland waterways transportation, the Emir urged the Federal Government to dredge the River Niger from Baro to Yauri to enable transportation of goods from the South to the North.
He pointed out that Water Transportation, is globally proven to be cheaper and helps to reduce wear and tear on our roads.
He urged the Federal Government to redeem its pledge to build a water Port in Yauri that was promised his community in the Niger Dams Act of 1962.
The Emir expressed the gratitude of his people to the Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Atiku Bagudu for sponsoring the Rigata Cultural Festival and promoting it to international standard. He also praised the Federal Government for building the Model Fish Market in Yauri and the resumed repairs of the Yauri – Koko road.
