Mohammed Adamu: A New Dawn In NUBOSS.
On 17th Day of September, 2024, the National Association of Borno State Students (NUBOSS) ABU Chapter, witnessed a new dawn of leadership as Mohammed Adamu (Ruby 001) was returned as the duly elected president of the great Association. The news didn’t came as a surprise to me at all, for I was certain the Borno state indigenes in ABU value credibility and competency, as such, there’s no way they’ll skip Mohammed Adamu whose name has been synonymous to the latter and the former to settle for less. I must admit you did a wonderful job and made the RIGHT choice.
You see, I always envy people who by hard work or grace reach the peak of their career where no one can match their competency, credibility or candidacy. You know that feeling when the congress men, excos and well wishers of your association are hastenly waiting for the day to stand up, clap, and celebrate you just because you’ve been clapping for them and it’s now your turn be clapped for?
Well, Mohammed Adamu has been that supportive and reliable pillar to his friends and colleague since the first day he stepped his foot in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Don’t ask me how I know about this because I’ve been among the top beneficiaries of his support, mentorship, and guidance from my little stay in this campus.
I’ve witnessed with my nacked eyes on several occasions where he sacrificed his personal ambition for the greater good. He sacrificed his ambition to represent his class in SRC for the unity of the class. Mohammed, has never contested for any position in Faculty of Administration Students Association (FASA) or Association of Local Government and Development Studies Students Association (ASLOGADS) where he can easily sweep the floor and win. Instead, he supported his friends to make sure they got elected into various positions in this association. What could be better than this?
The transformation he brought to his class, department, faculty and state association is so surreal that even the blind can see.
That’s why I couldn’t resist the urge to pick my pen and paper when I heard about his recent exploit in NUBOSS. I promised to pen down this special piece for him.
Today, I am not going to talk about how he steer the affairs of his class leaving no one behind from year one to final year, or how he supported his friends to assume various positions on campus to achieve giant strides. We are all aware of that, his colleagues and friends can all attest to that.
What I am going to talk about is how he lived and still living a life of purpose and impact as a school comrade and an astute politician. Mohammed has distinguished himself to be that comrade who so not focus on whether Aluta song has been sang or what he’ll eventually gain in office (monetary or recognition). Instead, he’s always focused on how to open doors of opportunities to his colleagues and forever support to his last breathe.
The confidence I have in Mohammed Adamu’s leadership for NUBOSS is unmatchable, I don’t trust myself to deliver or come close to his kind of creative and innovative leadership. Not even close. Looking at his past track record, achievements and numerous accolades he received over the past few years. You will be certain there’s no better candidate to assume that office than him.
In 2021, Mohammed received the award of BEST CHAIRMAN OF THE YEAR from the ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES STUDENTS (ASLOGAD) in recognition of his unique leadership and selfless service to his class. He received the award of COMRADE ICON of the year from FASA in the same year in recognition of his students centered Comradeship. Lest I forget, the Kogi State Union President, National Union Of Borno Students (NUBOSS) and Governor of Ali Akilu Hostel have all extended their hands to Ruby to benefit from his vast experience and wealth of knowledge. He served the Kogi President as his Liason Officer, he was the director of sport of Ali Akilu Hostel in 2021, and served NUBOSS as PRO 1 and currently the secretary general of the great Union. And Today he is the 001 of NUBOSS, meaning the number student as far as National Union of Borno State Students Association (NUBOSS) is concern.
With Mohammed Adamu, the welfare of NUBOSSITE is guaranteed under his watch, scholarship, academic and extra curricular activities will not be ignored under his administration. His story has indeed been a story of grace, tenacity and unwavering determination to Impact on the lives of his fellow students and beyond.
I must at this juncture salute his courage, doggedness, comaradie and zeal to take NUBOSS to the greatest height.
We will never forget your sacrifices, the tedious and arduous journey you passed before reaching this milestone.
May Almighty Allah aid you in discharging your duties. Cheers to a new beginning for NUBOSS.
