9 Die, 3 Injured In Kano – Zaria Road Crash

No fewer than nine people have lost their lives in a road crash that occurred along Kano-Zaria Road, leaving three others with various degrees of injuries.

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano State Command, Abdullahi Labaran in a statement on Wednesday noted that the tragic crash occurred on Wednesday 10th September, 2024 at Kura local government area of the state.

Labaran explained that the crash involved a truck and a tricycle, with a total of twelve (12) people involved.

“Unfortunately, nine (9) people lost their lives in the accident, while three (3) others sustained injuries. The victims were immediately evacuated to Kura General Hospital for urgent medical attention.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the crash was caused by wrongful overtaking, which led to the loss of control of the vehicle.

“The Sector Commander of the Kano State FRSC, Corps Commander Ahmed Mohammed, has expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured.

“He has also reiterated the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations, particularly urging drivers to maintain safe speed when approaching major towns along the highways,” he stated.

While advising road users to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary loitering and hawking along the highways to avoid similar tragedies, Labaran reiterated that the command is committed to ensuring safer roads for all.

He also added that the FRSC will continue to engage in public enlightenment and enforcement activities to curb the rising menace of road traffic crashes.
