Nationwide Protest: Police Deployed 5,000 Personnel’s Across Kebbi State

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Muhammad Sani, says, security agencies are battle ready to check any breach of the law during the proposed protest by faceless individuals on 1st August, 2024.

The Police Commissioner sounded the warning while addressing special forces of various security agencies at the headquarters of the Police Command, Birnin Kebbi.

“Nigerians have the Constitutional right to organize protest for reasons best known to them, but security operatives in Kebbi will clampdown on anyone causing breach of public peace or disruption to infrastructure”,

“Troubled spots have been identified, police tactical teams have been deployed there for intensive surveillance, 5000 special forces from various agencies are already on ground”,

“All groups planning protest must inform the police proposed routes and destinations of protesters, names and contact details of leaders, measures to forestall miscreants highjacking the protest, while protesters must work closely with law enforcement agents”, CP Bello Muhammad Sani warned.

He advised peace loving people of Kebbi to go about their normal businesses, assuring that the police and other agencies would guarantee the prevalence of security and peace throughout the state.

Special Forces at the Police Command were from the Nigerian Army, the Police, the DSS, the Civil Defence, the Custom Service, the Immigration Service, the Correctional Service, the NDLEA, Federal Road Safety and the Fire Service.

They went round Birnin Kebbi metropolis in a “show of force” to affirm their combat readiness.

Prelude to the address, the Police Commissioner, presented cheques amounting to N5.8 million to families of deceased policemen who died in active service.

“This kind gesture from the IGP is not compensation for lives lost, but aimed at supporting the families of fallen policemen and boosting the morale of serving policemen to fight crime more with valour in the state”, the Police Commissioner explained.
