Shooting: Police Direct Search For Suspects

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mohammed Aliyu, has directed a search for suspects that shot dead a resident in Enugu metropolis at the weekend.

This is contained in a statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe on Monday in Enugu.

Ndukwe said that the commissioner directed the state’s Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) to launch a full-scale investigation of the criminal elements in view of bringing them to book.

“Following information received on July 4 at about 8:30 p.m., that hoodlums were operating at Bricks Estate in Independence Layout, Enugu; police operatives attached to the Layout’s Police Division, immediately went to the scene.

“On sighting the operatives, the criminal elements fled, while their male victim, later identified as Ifeanyi Okeke, whom they shot severally, was rushed to the nearest hospital.

“Okeke was later confirmed dead by doctors on duty at the hospital,’’ he said.

The police spokesman called on the public with useful information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects to volunteer same at the nearest police station.
