The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Tuesday urged drivers and travellers to adhere strictly to the Nigeria Centre for Drug Control (NCDC) preventive measures, to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Olusegun Aladenika, the Unit Commander, Ore, Ondo State, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He also urged all motor parks around the Ore-Benin axis to avoid over-crowding of passengers, ensure  continuous use of face masks, regular washing of hands, applying alcohol based sanitisers, as well as maintaining social distancing.

The FRSC boss, who noted that the second wave of COVID-19 had begun, added that compliance with the preventive measures would check its spread.

“The second wave of COVID-19 is here and the only way to check its spread is to obey all government protocols and guidelines.

“We are appealing to drivers and travellers to ensure they go back to the old order of using  face masks, washing of hands, applying sanitisers and maintaining three persons on a seat instead of four.

“Motor parks in Ore-Benin axis should ensure they supply water, soaps, hand sanitisers and ensure their passengers wear their face masks,” Aladenika said.

He also urged motorists to obey all traffic rules and regulations on the highway and maintain regulation speed limit to avoid crashes. (NAN)
