Police Arraign Man For Alleged Abduction Of Baby In Ogun

A 44-year-old man, Adetoro David, was on Monday arraigned at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for alleged abduction of a 2-year-old baby.

David,  whose residential address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of abduction and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Insp. A. O. Adebayo, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences at about 6.00 a.m. on Sept. 8, in Oju-Ore area, Ota.

Adebayo alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to abduct a 2-year-old baby, Marvelous Oluwole, without the consent of the parents, Mr and Mrs Yemi Oluwole.

She said that the offences contravened sections 28, 371(1) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr O. L. Oke granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oke ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun government.

The case was adjourned until Nov. 19 for further hearing. (NAN)
