German NGO Presents 90 Mobility Carts To Bauchi Disabled

President of a German-based Non-governmental organization ‘Bruder Hilfe’ Mrs Mary Bamigbe has said that living with disability is not the end of the World as, according to her, it opens one’s eyes to see his/her true abilities and potentialities.

Mrs Mary Bamigbe, who was in Bauchi Tuesday while presenting 90 mobility carts to disabled people in the state, described catering for the needs and welfare of the disabled as a collective responsibility being enjoined by both religions.

“The mobility cart can serve two purposes: ease your day-today movements, and start a business to earn a living. The mobility cart has been made with special provisions to accommodate mobile business”.

The initiative president commended the leadership quality of Governor Bala Mohammed in carrying everyone along including persons living with disability, saying Bruder – Hilfe is looking forward to more of such fruitful partnership in the near future.

She also hailed Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar for his fatherly role, commitment and support in ensuring that the project becomes a resounding success.

“We will continue to count on your leadership and exemplary role in supporting Nigerians in diaspora to succeed in their various endeavours as well as promoting cooperation among the government and private sectors in Nigeria and Germany”.

“I want to also thank our international donors, MEDSHARE and Centre For Poverty Reduction for their continuous support to the course of humanity”.

She also appealed to well spirited individuals, Governmental organizations, contractors and International NGOs to give priority attention when planning, designing, and constructing public spaces by bearing in mind the immediate needs of disabled persons.

Governor Bala Mohammed who chaired the occasion said his administration has since it’s inception abled to open it’s doors to international attention and made partnership with global bodies making positive impact in the quality of lives of Bauchi people.

The governor recalled his visit to Germany where he signed agreements with a view to improve the lots of the people of Bauchi state.

Governor disclosed that plan is underway by the state government to establish a commission for the Disabled persons in Bauchi.

“Let me congratulate all persons living with disability in Bauchi state on this auspicious occasion and I want to charge them to maximize the opportunities and platforms that have been provided for them by the present administration.”

“I wish to reassure you, this Government will continue to encourage you to be united in the pursuit of your dreams of social inclusion.”

The Governor reiterated the commitment and desire of his administration to improve the quality of lives of the disabled persons by ensuring that, they enjoy their full rights and privileges as citizens of the state.

“I am very pleased that, Bruder Hilfe is the first organisation among the five organisations that we have signed an agreement with them during my official working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany in March, 2020.”

“It was a very productive visit, I signed a total of five Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of Agriculture, Education, Road Construction, Water and Sanitation.”

The Bauchi state leader of the Disabled persons, Aliyu Shango commended the gesture of the German-based NGO for the gesture and Governor Bala Mohammed for facilitating the presentation of the mobility carts.
