The main ambition of citizens of every nation is to contribute their own parts in nation’s building and leave everlasting legacies for future generations. This can only be possible where the citizens gives their highest priorities to nation building through the inculcation, inductrination and promotion of patriotism in the minds of the citizens that will produce nationalists in all generations for continuity of sustainable development.
Where nationalism became a well established culture among the citizens, it will easily lead to the establishment of strong institutions and strong system of governance that will ensure functional and strong government that is goal oriented.
Strong institutions and system of government makes the tasks of leaders easier in accomplishing short, medium and long-terms plans for sustainable development.
Developed and many developing nations strives very hard through ideals, possible and difficult processes and tasks to built strong ininstitutions that will serve the best interests of the nation not facilitating personal and selfish interests of few elites who are after the promotions and protections of their personal interests.
With strong institutions in place, they will strengthen a weak leader to perform excellently well in governance to move the nation forward towards socioeconomic development of the society to build hopes in the minds of their citizens that, the leaders caressed for their wellbeing in all sectors of life. In the same manner, weak institutions will eventually makes the most strong man weak.
However, coming to our dear country Nigeria, without iota of doubt we are heading to doom and uncertain futures due to weak and institutional decays that becomes a pervasive culture in running the affairs of government generally that promotes personal goals to the detriment of the general public.
The multidimensional problems affecting Nigeria coupled with institutional decays affecting all aspects of our lives are above and beyond any single individual to fixe unilaterally without our collective efforts to salvage our country and future generations. Our political, educational, security, health care, judiciary and all other social institutions were terribly weak to the extent they could not perform their primary functions effectively.
The institutional decays are gradually making the citizens hopeless for brighter future.
It is our humble opinion the blame game will not in anyway solve our problems that hinders progress and development of our country. As we destroys it collectively, we must join hands collectively to do the needful and save ourselves and our country from imminent collapse and destruction that will sink all of us to the deep of the dark ocean without tracing.
