Kebbi Govt. Cautions Butchers Against Slaughtering Animals Outside Abattoirs

Kebbi Government on Tuesday cautioned butchers to avoid slaughtering animals outside abattoirs.

The officials  of the Kebbi state ministry of Animal Health Husbandry and fisheries gave the warning during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Association of Butchers, Kebbi State chapter in Birnin Kebbi.

Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries, Hajiya Fati Udu said the meeting was meant to discourage such activities for the good of all.

She said: “The meeting is aimed at cautioning the butchers to avoid slaughtering animals outside abattoirs in view of the fact that government had provided modern abattoirs.

“I want to use this medium to call on members of the association to cooperate with the ministry to ensure sanitary condition of their business.”

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Mukhtar Sarkin-Fawa assured the ministry that his members would be law-abiding.

Sarkin-Fawa pledged to work hand-in-hand with the ministry towards promoting effective and sound health of the people in the state.

The Chairman commended the State government under the leadership of Gov. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu for its support to members of the association.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the meeting was attended by all Directors of the Ministry, General Manager, Birnin Kebbi Central Market as well as members of Nigerian Association of Butchers, Kebbi State chapter. (NAN)
