The Police Command in Delta says it will continue to enforce the lockdown order in the state until there is official directive from the state government to halt the enforcement.
Inuwa was reacting to rumours and insinuations that the state government had relaxed the stay-at-home order to enable Christian faithful participate in Easter Sunday worship in their various churches.
Rumours had been making the rounds in the state that government had relaxed the order even as Gov Ifeanyi Okowa, in his Easter message on Saturday, did not say the order had been relaxed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state government gave the two-week lockdown directive effective from April 1, as a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
“We are not going to relax because till now, we have not received any directive. We will work until a directive to relax the lockdown is given.
“It is for the good and safety of everybody. So, as I speak with you, we will continue to enforce the lockdown until the contrary directive is given,” Inuwa said.
