Two persons have been confirmed dead, and two others rescued alive after a two-storey building collapsed in the early hours of Thursday in Nomansland, Fagge local government area of Kano State.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m., following rainfall that caused heavy flooding in the area.

The building, which was situated near a waterway, was severely affected by the overflow, leading to its collapse.

Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed that rescue operations commenced immediately after the incident.

“Two people have been rescued alive and taken to the hospital, while sadly, two others were found dead. Rescue operations are still ongoing,” Abdullahi said.

LEADERSHIP reports that the collapse comes just a day after the Kano State Emergency Management Agency revealed that 31 people were killed and over 5,280 homes destroyed by flooding in the state.

The heavy rains have left many communities devastated, with authorities warning residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant.
