Kebbi State – The Women’s Right Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA), in collaboration with the Ford Foundation, has trained 10 volunteers from various organizations on preventing and responding to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Kebbi State.

The training, titled “Step-Down Training on Volunteers’ Group Knowledge and Skills Strengthening (VAWG) Prevention and Response,” aimed to equip volunteers with the necessary tools, knowledge, and strategies to enhance their effectiveness in combating gender-based violence.

Executive Director of WRAPA in Kebbi State, Comrade Nasir Idris, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges of gender-based violence. He urged participants to engage fully in the training, ask questions, share their experiences, and learn from one another.

Project Manager of WRAPA, Hajia Hassan Ibrahim, presented an overview of the organization, which was established in 1999 to protect women’s rights across Nigeria. WRAPA targets women and girls of all ages, particularly those facing gender-based violence, discrimination, and legal injustices, and extends support to marginalized communities.

The training is part of WRAPA’s efforts to deepen understanding of the dynamics of gender-based violence, challenges faced by survivors, and the critical role volunteers play in prevention and response.
