Alhaji Abdurrahman Sani –Maigoro, Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government council, Nasarawa State, said that his administration has given priority to the education sector, considering its importance to human and societal development.
Sani-Maigoro stated this while distributing exercise books to pupils of Ibrahim Barde Primary School, Angwan Waje in Keffi on Thursday.
The chairman, who was represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Education in the council, Mr Jibril Dansauka, said that no nation could achieve any meaningful development without sound education.
According to him, education is the only way of escaping from poverty.
“With education, one can travel beyond his locality, as no society or nation can achieve any meaningful progress without sound education, hence my administration’s commitment in that direction.
Maigoro also disclosed that he had enrolled 8,000 pupils into various primary schools towards achieving basic education and for the overall development of the council area.
“In 2019, my administration also purchased and distributed school uniforms and other materials to pupils to reduce the sufferings of parents, most of whom are less-privileged.
“It may also interest you to know that considering the cries of most of our students and parents, my administration registered and paid WAEC/NECO, NABTEB and JAMB fees for over 500 students.
“I want to assure our people of my administration’s continued commitment to developing education among other sectors,” he added.
Sani-Maigoeo advised parents and guardians to see education as the only investment that they could give to their children.
He urged teachers and other citizens to support his administration’s efforts at improving the standard of education in the area.
