The Mail News Online LTD Congratulates Major Gen. Yahaya On Appointment As Chief Of Army Staff

The Mail News Online LTD publishers of the well known online news medium www.themailnewsonline.com and www.tantabarahausa.com has congratulated Major General Faruq Yahaya on his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff.

In a statement issued today in Abuja, the CEO and Editor in Chief of the media organization, Malam Gidado Ibrahim described the new Chief of Army  Staff as an intelligent, hardworking, patriotic and cerebral military man and a dedicated Nigerian.

Farouk Yahaya, a major general, replaces Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in a military plane crash on May 21.

The statement said; “Major General Yahaya is a decent man, a cerebral soldeir, who is well disciplined and he is coming in with the necessary pedigree that will help him to do well on the job.

“On behalf of the entire management and staff of The Mail News Online LTD we write to express our profound and heartfelt congratulations on the well deserved appointment of Major General Faruq Yahaya as the Chief of Army Staff.” He said.

Yahaya, a major general, will replace Ibrahim Attahiru who died in a military plane crash alongside 10 other officers last week Friday.
Onyema Nwachukwu, acting director of defence information, released a statement announcing Yahaya’s appointment on Thursday.

Yahaya was the former general officer commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian army.
Before his appointment, he was the theatre commander of the counter-terrorism military outfit in the north-east which is code-named operation Hadin Kai.

Yahaya, the 22nd chief of army staff, will be expected to build on the efforts of the late Attahiru in tackling insecurity in the country.
