The Taraba Government has restated its commitment towards takeoff of the Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Project of the Federal Government.

Mr Danjuma Adamu, the state’s Commissioner for Information said this at a joint news conference with the state’s Commissioner for Power, Dr Badina Garba in Jalingo on Sunday.

Adamu said that Gov.  Darius Ishaku was also committed towards ensuring immediate takeoff of the project for the benefit of the people of the state and the country at large.

“Since the federal government decided to make the project a priority, the governor has also taken several steps to aid and facilitate its take off.

“These include the hosting of the sensitisation meeting of critical stakeholders in Abuja which was highly commended by the Minister of Power, Alhaji Saleh Mamman,” he said.

Adamu said that Ishaku had also approved the construction of Mararaba -Baisssa–Abong -Ngureje road to provide access to the site.

He said it was untrue that the governor refused to collect funds allocated by federal government for payment of compensation to communities affected by the project.

Garba on his part said that the delay in the takeoff of the project was caused by numerous approvals required for the takeoff.
